Member Spotlight

DeWayne Howell
Facilities Manager
Polaris Industries

The member spotlight for this month is on Dewayne Howell with Polaris. The Polaris vision is “To fuel the passion of workers and outdoor enthusiasts around the globe by delivering innovative, high-quality vehicles, products, services and experiences that enrich their lives”. Dewayne started with Polaris in February of 2016 as the facilities manager. What Dewayne likes best about Polaris is that “culturally it’s a fun product… who doesn’t love to ride on 4 wheelers”…. I couldn’t agree more! He also likes that they have an energized team.

Dewayne grew up in New Hampshire.  He attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated with a BS and MS in chemical engineering. After school he moved to Vermont to work as the Environmental, Health and Safety manager for a molding company and was there for 13 years.

Dewayne is passionate about developing his team. He wants his team to be viewed as an asset! A typical day starts off with a production meeting, followed by checking in with the maintenance team. Since Dewayne is the direct supervisor for the maintenance team, he checks on upcoming projects, general maintenance and hot button issues. He also coordinates the contractor work and makes sure everyone is working as one unit.

Dewayne and his wife Traci have been married for 24 years. Traci teaches special education in Decatur. They have three children: Matthew and Michael (in college at Alabama) and Rachel (at James Clemens High School). He is a Boston fan, but since his kids are now at The University of Alabama, he is an honorary “Roll Tide” member. His hobbies include riding his Razor (made by Polaris, of course) and working on projects around the house.

Welcome Dewayne!
